Located in the beautiful downtown San Diego Marina District, the New Children’s Museum is a place where kids are encouraged to touch everything—to think, play and create. Housed in an environmentally sustainable building designed by architect Rob Wellington Quigley, the Museum provides a dynamic, playful public space and community center for children and families.

The New Children’s Museum provides an environment that encourages active minds, healthy bodies and unstructured play. Museum exhibits display contemporary works of art for children and families. This playful spirit and lively approach to contemporary art creates an environment where patrons can experience exciting art exhibitions, hands-on studio projects, performances, birthday parties, in-depth classes, camps and educational programs.

The Museum is designed for children of all ages from toddler to teens. There are many play areas at are designed for specific age groups. For toddlers, be sure to check out the Texture Forest and for teenagers visit the Teen Studio.

Looking to save some money but still want to get the kids out of the house for some play time? Visit the Museum every second Sunday of the month for free, courtesy of Target. Then, head across the street from the museum and play in the big beautiful park, where kids can run and climb and even enjoy a family picnic.

Another great way to save is to become a member of the Museum. Memberships start at $85 and come with a variety of benefits including free entry for you and your family. Membership fees also help to provide art supplies for the hands-on projects and support education initiatives.

Visit the Museum website for more information about visiting, becoming a member and upcoming events.
