Your at-a-glance guide to San Diego this weekend, July 9–12 — baseball, big concerts, wine festivals, soccer, and Over-the-Line.
This is a loaded one. A four-day stretch of San Diego summer at its best — a full Padres homestand, marquee concerts, free neighborhood shows, waterfront wine and beer, pro soccer, and one of the wildest beach traditions in the county. I've laid it all out below, day by day, with the Padres games grouped together up top. This is an overview — tap any event for its full guide with times, tickets, and the details to plan around.
The Padres are home all four days at Petco Park in Downtown San Diego — opening with the Diamondbacks on Thursday, then a three-game weekend series against the Blue Jays. Pick a night (or make it a few):
Same advice for any game: take the Green Line Trolley (it drops you a block from the gate and beats downtown parking), and buy direct to skip the resale markup.
The Aussie pop-rock heavyweights bring their EVERYONE'S A STAR! World Tour to Viejas Arena, with The Band CAMINO opening. Expect the hits ("She Looks So Perfect," "Youngblood") sung back at full volume, plus new material — and take the Green Line Trolley straight to the SDSU stop to skip the campus parking scramble.

The marquee ticket of the weekend: Chris Stapleton at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre, 7:30 PM. He's the best pure voice in country music right now, and the amphitheater is the right room to hear it — it's a splurge (from around $154), but worth it.

North County's beloved free Friday series rolls on at Stagecoach Community Park with Dance Dance Evolution, a high-energy dance band and Top 40 act. Pack a cooler and a blanket (concessions are limited), and use the free bike valet since parking is tight.

The free Point Loma summer series kicks off with The Long Run, an Eagles tribute, at Point Loma Park, 5:30 PM. The golden Point Loma light off the water is the whole draw — bring a blanket and settle in.

San Diego's wildest beach tradition takes over Fiesta Island for the first of its two weekends — a 70-year-old, adults-only beach bat-and-ball spectacle with costumes, coolers, and a full festival vibe. It's free to spectate; just get there early, since the island closes to cars by mid-morning.

The University of San Diego's signature summer fundraiser returns to campus at 7 PM — tastings from 25+ wineries, gourmet food, live entertainment, and silent and live auctions, all benefiting student scholarships. A dressed-up, feel-good evening for a good cause.

A coastal tasting experience on Broadway Pier from 12–5 PM, with a curated lineup of breweries, wineries, and distilleries plus food vendors and live entertainment. Chill waterfront vibes and plenty to sip — grab tickets early, since pricing goes up as tiers sell out.

Pro soccer at Snapdragon Stadium as San Diego Wave FC hosts the SoCal rival Angel City FC — one of the best atmospheres in the NWSL, and a great night out. Take the Green Line Trolley to skip the parking.

The Over-the-Line madness rolls into its second day on Fiesta Island — same free, sun-soaked, only-in-San-Diego spectacle. If you missed Saturday, this is your shot.

Wind the weekend down the island way. Coronado Concerts in the Park brings the Pine Mountain Logs to Spreckels Park at 6:00 PM — free, like every show in this 56-year tradition. Spread a blanket, pack a picnic and a bottle of wine (plastic cups only), and let the weekend coast to a close.
