What it's really like
Carlsbad is a coastal North County city of approximately 115,000 residents, organized into several distinct areas: Carlsbad Village along the coast, the beach corridor between Tamarack and Ponto, La Costa to the southeast, Aviara to the south, and Bressi Ranch in the inland east. The Village is walkable around State Street and includes a Coaster commuter rail station; the inland communities are master-planned with newer construction and country-club amenities.
The city is known for its seven miles of coastline, the Flower Fields above Interstate 5, Batiquitos Lagoon, the Carlsbad Unified School District, and major employers including LEGOLAND California and the biotech, medical-device, and golf-industry presences along Palomar Airport Road.
