East County's arts scene throws its biggest party of the year this September. The Alley Cat Art Fest transforms Downtown El Cajon into a lively open-air gallery — more than 50 local artists and makers, mural-covered Arts Alley, interactive installations, live music and cultural performances, and a mouthwatering lineup of food trucks. It happens Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., it's free, and it's built for all ages.

The 2026 edition is a newly re-imagined event that brings together the best of two Downtown El Cajon traditions — Artivál and the beloved Alley Cat Art Walk — into one dynamic celebration that honors more than two decades of local creativity. Expect to wander Main Street, Magnolia Avenue, the Prescott Promenade, and the iconic Arts Alley, discovering art (and artists) around every corner. Organizers expect more than 10,000 people from across San Diego County and Baja California.
