The Cardiff Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the MiraCosta College San Elijo campus, just off Interstate 5 at Manchester Avenue. It's a Certified California Farmers Market, run by Cardiff 101 Main Street, and it operates year-round — January through December, rain or shine.
It's also the youngest market in this guide's neighborhood. It launched in March 2023, built deliberately as a destination market rather than a sidewalk pop-up, and it has since taken Best of North County and landed as a Best of San Diego finalist. What it trades away is the picturesque main-street setting some older markets have. What it gets in return is space — the campus has parking for more than 850 cars, all of it free, which anyone who has circled Little Italy on a Saturday will recognize as a genuine luxury.

Produce from local growers is the backbone — this is a certified market, which means the farmers selling the fruit are the farmers who grew it. Around that core sits a wider mix: packaged food products, prepared food you can eat on the spot, and a curated set of craft vendors and local makers.
Recent regulars include Heritage Family Farms on the produce side, El Bondi for gluten-free empanadas, Betabel Juicery, and fresh-squeezed orange juice. As with any market, the roster rotates, so treat specific vendors as likely rather than guaranteed.
The 10 a.m. start is worth noting if you're used to markets that open at dawn. It's a later, more relaxed morning than most, which makes it easy to fold into a weekend that started slowly. Come closer to opening if you want first pick of produce and flowers; come later if you're mostly there to eat and browse.
Make a Morning of It
The market sits directly across from the San Elijo Lagoon, one of the best coastal wetland preserves in the county, with flat, well-marked trails and serious birdlife. Market first, then a walk down at the lagoon, is one of the more pleasant Saturday mornings North County offers — and it's the reason to build a couple of hours around this rather than treating it as a grocery errand.
From there you're minutes from Cardiff State Beach and the rest of the Encinitas coast, so a market run folds naturally into a beach afternoon.
Good to Know
Bring a bag and a cooler. Standard market advice, but the cooler matters more here if you're buying meat or fish and then heading to the beach.
Bring some cash. Most vendors take cards, but small makers occasionally don't, and cash moves the line faster.
EBT is accepted. Not every market in the county takes it, and it's worth saying plainly.
Bikes are welcome. The campus is reachable by bike from most of Cardiff and Encinitas, and it's an easier arrival than driving on a busy Saturday.
It's a campus, not a village green. If you're expecting a historic downtown backdrop, this isn't that. What it is instead is open, easy, accessible, and genuinely relaxed — which for a weekly market is arguably the better trade.
