Glam Slam: Social Tennis, Matcha, and Matching Outfits by the Beach

Overview

Part clinic, part social club, part photo op — Glam Slam is the flagship event from Coastal Court Society (tagline: "where community meets the court"), a new San Diego tennis community built to make the sport feel welcoming instead of intimidating. Each edition has an outfit theme, a couple of local coaches, a matcha bar, and a goodie bag, and the whole thing is aimed squarely at people who want to start playing as much as those who already do.

This edition runs Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Pacific Beach Tennis Club, with a "Summer Yellow" dress theme. It's a recurring series — the group runs these every month or so with a rotating theme and venue — so if you miss this one, another's usually around the corner.

How the Morning Runs

It's a real, structured clinic, not a free-for-all:

• 8:45–9:00 — Check-in
• 9:00–9:15 — Group warm-up (everyone together)
• 9:15–10:15 — Clinics, split into two groups: Beginner with Coach Norman, Intermediate with Coach Kavya. At the 30-minute mark the groups swap coaches and courts, so you get time with both.
• 10:20–12:00 — Social hour: group photo, goodie-bag and matcha-tini pickup, designated photo spots, and free play. Wraps at noon.

You leave having actually played, gotten real coaching, and met people — the format is built so newcomers never feel stranded.

What's Included (and What to Bring)

Your ticket covers court time with hands-on coaching, your choice of featured drink — a mocktail matcha-tini, or a cold brew or matcha from local brand Dark and Steamy — and a wellness goodie bag stocked with local brands. Coastal Court Society hand-picks the vendors and sponsors, so the goodie bag is a real part of the value, not an afterthought.

Bring your own racquet (if you need to borrow one, they'll sort you out — just message them on Instagram ahead of time), and wear shoes with good lateral support. Dress in the theme if you're up for it — this edition is Summer Yellow, with orange and white as backups.
