Grammy-winning R&B star Ella Mai plays The Rady Shell on July 29 — the Do You Still Love Me? Tour, with AMA and Girlfriend.
One of R&B's defining modern voices comes to the bayfront: Ella Mai brings her Do You Still Love Me? Tour to The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park on Wednesday, July 29, with AMA and Girlfriend opening. The Grammy-winning British singer behind "Boo'd Up" and "Trip" trades in smooth, emotionally honest R&B — and hearing that voice carry across the water at sunset, with the downtown skyline behind the stage, is about as good as a summer concert night gets in San Diego.
Ella Mai grew up in southwest London, spent formative years in New York, and broke through in 2018 after DJ Mustard signed her to his 10 Summers label. Her single "Boo'd Up" became a cultural moment — it held the No. 1 spot for the most weeks of any song by a woman on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and is now certified 8x Platinum. The follow-up, "Trip," went 6x Platinum and reached the Hot 100's top 15, and her self-titled debut album has pulled in nearly six billion streams. Along the way she's collected a Grammy for Best R&B Song, plus Billboard, iHeartRadio, Soul Train, and NAACP Image Awards. This tour supports her latest era, and it's a chance to hear a genuine modern R&B great in an intimate outdoor room.
Part of the draw here is the venue. The Rady Shell is the best-sounding outdoor room in the city — purpose-built acoustics, right on San Diego Bay, with the skyline and the water as the backdrop. It's the ideal setting for Ella Mai's kind of music: warm, intimate, and made for a golden-hour evening. (Note: this is a standalone concert — the San Diego Symphony does not perform at this show.)
It's one of the more special live-music nights of the San Diego summer. Planning more? See our guide to the best San Diego summer concerts, or browse the full event calendar.
