Halloween + HYROX: A Pacific Beach Gym Turns Itself Into a Haunted Nightclub
A DJ set, a costume contest, tacos, a bar, and a HYROX workout in the middle of it. Come in a costume you can actually move in.
Overview
The gym's own announcement is the best summary anyone could write: "WE'RE TURNING THE GYM INTO A HAUNTED CLUB."
Halloween + HYROX is at Fitness Quest 10 in Pacific Beach on Friday, October 30, from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $45 all-in.
It's the Halloween edition of a format the gym has been running as House + HYROX — described by the team as "night club meets gym." A DJ plays all night, there's a bar, there are tacos, and somewhere in the middle of it everybody does a HYROX-style workout.
Here's the one thing to get right before you go, and it's a wardrobe decision.
The gym asks you to come in your "best workout-friendly Halloween costume" — and that qualifier is doing real work. There is an actual workout at this party, not a themed warm-up. A costume contest is also running, so there's pressure in both directions.
The brief, essentially: something you can sweat in and still win a prize in. Anything with a mask you can't breathe through, a hoop skirt, or shoes you can't move laterally in is the wrong call. Face paint over a full head covering, something you can run in, and shoes you'd actually train in.
The second thing: $45 covers everything. The gym says "all-in," and the list includes the workout, the DJ, tacos, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. For a Friday night in Pacific Beach on Halloween weekend, that's a competitive number before you've accounted for the workout.
What You Need to Know
- Event: Halloween + HYROX, at Fitness Quest 10 Pacific Beach
- When: Friday, October 30, 2026 · 7–10 p.m.
- Where: FQ10 Pacific Beach — 875 Garnet Ave
- Price: $45 all-in
- Dress code: your best workout-friendly Halloween costume
- Tickets: link in the @fitnessquest10pb Instagram bio
- Timing note: it's the Friday before Halloween, so this is the start of the weekend rather than a clash with it
What's Included
Everything on this list is covered by the ticket:
- A DJ set all night from @soundslikexo
- A costume contest, plus giveaways
- A HYROX-style workout — the gym's word is "wicked"
- Tacos, described as being there "to bring you back from the dead"
- Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks
- Brand sponsors on site — @drinkmirava, @reignbodyfuel, @probionutrition "and more"
- "A few spooky surprises along the way"
Good to Know
- Costume you can move in. Said twice because it's the whole trick of this event. There's a contest and there's a workout, and most costumes fail one or the other.
- Bring training shoes, whatever else you're wearing. Lateral movement in sandals is how people turn an ankle.
- Bring a towel and a change of shirt. You're going from a workout to a club with no break in between, in the same room.
- It's three hours, 7 to 10. The published schedule doesn't break down when the workout happens within that window, so arrive at seven rather than drifting in at nine and finding you've missed it.
- There are non-alcoholic options, which is worth knowing given the sponsor list leans toward energy drinks and functional beverages. You don't have to drink to enjoy this one.
- Friday the 30th, not Saturday the 31st. The gym is explicit: "Halloweekend starts here." If you've got Halloween night plans, this doesn't conflict with them.
- Pacific Beach on Halloween weekend — plan how you're getting home before you go.
Why It's Worth It
San Diego has no shortage of Halloween parties and no shortage of gyms, and the overlap is usually a themed class at 6 a.m. This is the inverse: an actual night out that happens to include a workout, with a DJ, a bar, tacos and a costume contest.
At $45 all-in, with drinks and food covered, it's priced below what a Friday night in Pacific Beach normally costs — and you'll have done something.
If the fitness side is what interests you rather than the party, the same gym is running a full HYROX race simulation on Sunday, November 8, 8 a.m. to noon, also $45 — solos, doubles and relays, with race-day timing and stations. Different event, same building, nine days later.
