LEGOLAND's Ninja Weekends Make Your Kid Earn a Ceremony
Children train through a series of challenges, collect a sticker for each, and finish at a Ceremony of the Ninja. It's a progression, not a meet-and-greet — and it's included with admission.
Overview
LEGO NINJAGO Weekends returns to LEGOLAND California in early 2027.
LEGOLAND hasn't published specific dates yet — their listing says only "Early 2027." Watch their seasonal events page, and we'll update this when they announce.
What we can tell you is what the event actually is, and it's better designed than most theme-park seasonal programming.
Most of these events are a collection of things to look at. This one is a progression. Children follow a "Path of the Ninja," collecting a sticker for each challenge they complete, and finish at a Ceremony of the Ninja where they're recognised and rewarded.
That structure matters more than it sounds. A seven-year-old with a sticker sheet and something to finish behaves completely differently from a seven-year-old being walked between shows. It gives the day a spine.
And it's included with regular park admission and select passes — no separate event ticket.
The Path of the Ninja
The core of the event. Build, train and sharpen your ninja skills across a series of challenges, collecting a sticker for each one completed.
It ends at the Ceremony of the Ninja, where participants are recognised and receive a reward.
Start this early in the day. It's the thing you want finished before anyone gets tired, and the ceremony is a better experience when it's earned rather than rushed.
The Shows
Five, in LEGOLAND's own billing:
- "Whip Around" Dance Party — hosted by Sora. "Every Ninja loves dancing!"
- Lloyd's Elemental Challenge — Lloyd challenges guests to learn and demonstrate various elemental powers
- March of the Dragon — new. A dragon cavalcade. "The legendary dragon is on the move!"
- The Dragon's Drumbeat — an energetic music and drumming show
- Name that Ninja — find all eight hidden clues, then match each ninja name to the right clue number
Name that Ninja is the sleeper. A park-wide hunt with eight clues keeps children engaged in the gaps between shows, which is exactly when a theme park day usually falls apart.
The Builds
- 15th Celebration Mosaic — new. A collaborative giant mosaic featuring NINJAGO characters, built by guests together over the event
- Ultimate Dragon Build Activity — open LEGO building, make your own dragon
The mosaic is a nice idea — a shared build that grows across the run, so what you see depends on when you come.
There's also a LEGO NINJAGO 15 Years coin as part of the anniversary.
The Rides That Tie In
Three permanent NINJAGO attractions anchor the event:
- LEGO NINJAGO The Ride — "Fireballs! Lightning! Shockwaves! Ice!"
- LEGO NINJAGO Training Camp
- LEGO NINJAGO: Master of the 4th Dimension
Those run year-round, so if your child is deep in NINJAGO, the park works for them any time. The weekends add the shows, the path and the ceremony on top.
Characters
Exclusive meet and greets with NINJAGO characters. LEGOLAND names Sora and Lloyd specifically; the rest of the lineup isn't published.
What It Costs
Included with regular park admission and select annual passes. LEGOLAND's own line: "LEGO NINJAGO Weekends are included in the cost of regular Park admission & select passes."
Park admission starts at $69 per person, which covers LEGOLAND plus the Water Park and SEA LIFE Aquarium, and includes the seasonal events that run through the year.
Annual passes start at $239, or — per LEGOLAND's own hub page — from $19 a month with an initial payment starting at $83, auto-renewing after a twelve-month minimum.
A fair warning on their pricing: the hub page and the event pages don't agree. The hub advertises hotel packages from $169 with an offer ending November 17, 2026, while the event sub-pages still show $189 with an offer that expired on September 28, 2026. The hub also describes the ticket as LEGOLAND plus SEA LIFE, without the Water Park, while the event page includes it. Buy from the hub page and check exactly what's in your ticket.

Good to Know
- Dates aren't out yet. Only "Early 2027." Check their seasonal events page.
- It's included with admission. No separate ticket.
- Do the Path of the Ninja first. It's a progression with a ceremony at the end, and it needs time.
- No show times are published for any of the five shows. Get a times guide at the gate.
- Height requirements aren't published on the event page — check the rides page for the NINJAGO attractions.
- Parking isn't published on the event page either. Budget for it.
- LEGOLAND is designed for children aged 2 to 12, by its own description. This event sits squarely in that range.
- Check your ticket includes the Water Park — their own pages disagree.
Why It's Worth It
Because it's built as an achievement rather than an afternoon.
The difference between this and a standard character event is the sticker sheet. Collecting something, completing a path, and being formally recognised at the end turns a day at a theme park into something a child has actually done. They leave with a reward they earned rather than a photo someone took of them.
For a NINJAGO-obsessed six-to-ten-year-old, this is the single best weekend of LEGOLAND's year — the three permanent rides plus five shows, a dragon cavalcade, a collaborative build and a ceremony with their name in it.
And because it's included with admission, the only real decision is whether you were going to LEGOLAND anyway. If you were, go on a NINJAGO weekend. It's the same ticket and considerably more day.
If you're planning a Carlsbad trip: the Kids Marathon Mile at LEGOLAND runs on Saturday, January 16, 2027 — a one-mile run through the park before it opens, with a free park ticket included. Depending on when NINJAGO Weekends land, those two could pair into one very good Saturday.
