MNGO Cafe Serves Dessert Until Midnight on Convoy
Kakigōri at $15.95, house-made ice cream in six flavors, and a kitchen that takes dessert orders until half an hour before a midnight close.
Overview
San Diego closes early. MNGO Cafe doesn't.
Friday and Saturday it serves until midnight. Thursday and Sunday until 11. Monday to Wednesday until 10. It opens at noon every day, which means this is an afternoon-and-evening business — there is no morning coffee here.
It has been on Convoy since 2017, and the name is not subtle: "Mango inspired, obviously."
Here's what to order, and it's the thing that makes this more than a boba shop.
Kakigōri — $15.95. Japanese shaved ice, which is a different proposition from a snow cone: ice shaved fine enough to eat like powder, built into something substantial. Six flavours: MNGO, Rose Lychee, Salted Caramel Biscoff, Strawberry, Taro, and a new Dubai Pistachio. Add coconut condensed milk for $1.95.
And the ice cream is made in house, with coconut milk rather than dairy — Mango Sticky Rice, Butterfly Coconut, Black Sesame, Thai Tea, Taro and Pistachio.
One small detail that tells you they're paying attention: the decorative flowers on the desserts are edible.

Good to Know
- It doesn't open until noon. This is not a breakfast or morning-coffee stop.
- Last call is half an hour before close. On a Friday that's 11:30 p.m., not midnight.
- The kakigōri is the thing to try, and at $15.95 it's priced as a shared dessert rather than a solo one. Bring someone.
- The ice cream is dairy-free by default — coconut milk base across all six flavours.
- Alt milks are +$1 on drinks, so factor that in.
- It's a Convoy Street late option, which makes it a natural after-dinner move from anywhere else on that strip.
The Takeaway
Eat somewhere on Convoy, then walk over for kakigōri at ten o'clock.
What makes MNGO worth knowing isn't that San Diego has another dessert café — it's that this one is still serving at midnight on a Friday, with shaved ice built properly, ice cream made on site, and cold brew steeped for a full day.
