An all-day beachside wellness day — yoga, cold plunges, sauna, and a sunset Big Gigantic set — at Belmont Park on Aug 2.
This is the Sunday you've been trying to piece together on your own, finally built into one seamless beachside day. RENEW, presented by Same Same But Different, takes over the sand at Belmont Park on Sunday, August 2 — an all-day wellness experience that runs from a morning yoga flow straight through to a sunset concert headlined by electronic-jazz favorites Big Gigantic. Move, plunge, sweat, learn, and then dance: it's a day that feeds your body, your mind, and your need to actually have a good time, all with the Pacific as the backdrop.
The whole idea is that the wellness day becomes the concert. You roll up to the beach mid-morning, move through a yoga flow as the sun climbs, drop into an ice-cold plunge, sweat it out in a sauna, and catch a talk that actually makes you think. Then, as the sky turns gold and pink over the Pacific, the energy shifts — and Big Gigantic takes it from there. It's a full arc from reset to celebration, all in one place.
General Admission includes:
VIP adds: an elevated viewing stage, VIP-only bars and restrooms, and sponsored giveaways (while supplies last).
If you don't know the name, you'll know the sound. Big Gigantic is the Boulder, Colorado duo of Dominic Lalli — a Manhattan School of Music–trained saxophonist who handles production — and drummer Jeremy Salken. Their signature is live tenor sax and real drums layered over big electronic beats: improvisational, melodic, and built for good vibes. They've played the main stages at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and Electric Forest, and headline their own sold-out "Rowdytown" at Red Rocks year after year — and fans will tell you it's the friendly, all-in crowd that makes their shows. Fitting for a day like this, their A Big Gigantic Difference Foundation has raised over a million dollars for at-risk-youth and music-education causes.
It's one of the more unique ways to spend a summer Sunday in San Diego — a real reset that turns into a party. For more around the county, browse our full event calendar. And if a day in Mission Beach has you dreaming about the area, our Mission Beach neighborhood guide is a great place to start.
