Start with the correction, because it's the whole reason to read this before you go: this market moved from Tuesdays to Fridays on July 25, 2025. It has been a Friday-night market for over a year now, and a surprising number of otherwise reputable sources — including guides published in 2026 — still tell you to show up on a Tuesday.
The other thing worth calibrating: despite the name, this is not a produce-first market. Of the 47 vendors on the official roster, only about five are actual farms. Roughly 23 sell prepared and street food, and about a dozen sell crafts and artisan goods.
That isn't a criticism — it's just a different errand. Set among North City's restaurants and taprooms next to Cal State San Marcos, from 4 to 8 on a Friday, it functions as a weekend-kickoff social event rather than a grocery run. Go for dinner and a browse. If you need a week's produce, the Vista or Escondido markets will serve you better.

The Tuesday Problem
This deserves its own section because of how widely the old information still circulates.
The market ran on Tuesdays for years. It moved to Friday evenings in North City in July 2025. As of right now, these sources still say Tuesday:
- sandiego.org — lists Tuesday hours, with a page stamped August 2026. It also gets the city wrong ("San Diego, CA 92078") and names the wrong cross-street
- Patch's "San Diego County Farmers Market Guide 2026" — published May 2026, says Tuesdays
- NBC San Diego's county market list — Tuesday, and the same wrong cross-street
The correct cross-street is Twin Oaks Valley Road, not Barham Drive.
The Friday schedule is confirmed by the market's own site, the North City venue, and — most importantly — the County of San Diego's Certified Farmers' Markets registry, which is the legal certifying authority and whose current document is dated August 17, 2026.
What's Actually There
About five farms. Antonio Farms, Martinez Farms, Smit Farms, Save Soil Farms, and The Honey Bee Family are the growers on the roster.
Roughly 23 prepared and street food vendors. This is the bulk of the market and the reason most people come.
About a dozen craft and artisan sellers.
Live music. It's been a feature since the Friday relaunch, though the market doesn't publish a performer schedule, so treat it as likely rather than guaranteed.
Getting There and Parking
North City publishes the parking, not the market:
- Parking Structure 1, 201 Campus Way — free limited parking seven days a week, and North City businesses validate for additional free hours. Given the 4–8 p.m. window, this is the practical choice
- Parking Structure 2, 295 June Way — 90-minute retail parking on Levels 1–2 from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., then unlimited after 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. on weekdays
Take the Sprinter if you can. The NCTD Sprinter light rail's Cal State San Marcos station is within walking distance, which makes this one of the easier North County markets to reach without a car.
No Pets — and That One Catches People Out
Live animals are prohibited except service animals. The market cites the California Health and Safety Code provision that applies to certified markets.
Plenty of San Diego markets are relaxed about dogs, so this is the detail most likely to turn a Friday evening around at the entrance. Leave the dog at home.
Good to Know
It's a Friday night, next to a university, in a development full of bars and restaurants. Plan for it to be busy and social rather than quiet and efficient.
Go for dinner, not for the week's groceries. With five farms on a 47-vendor roster, this is a food-and-browse market.
The market's own site lists 251 North City Drive; the County and the venue say 250. Same block either way — it's on North City Drive between Campus Way and Redel Road.
