Kensington Café Makes Every Sauce in House — and There's a $15 Mimosa Flight
Ninety-odd dishes, every dressing made on site, a sunny dog-friendly patio and a mimosa flight. Open 7:30 every morning, closed by two or three.
Overview
Kensington Café makes a claim most breakfast places wouldn't risk: "Every sauce, spread, and dressing is crafted in-house, and every plate is made to order."
On a menu this size, that's a lot of sauce. There are around twenty breakfast à la carte items alone, six scrambles, five breakfast sandwiches, eight burgers and sandwiches apiece, five salads and a full coffee bar — and the kitchen says none of the dressings come out of a bottle.
It sits at 4141 Adams Ave., "in the heart of historic Kensington."
Two things make it worth planning around.
First: there's a mimosa flight for $15. Not a mimosa, a flight of them — which on a weekend patio is a more interesting proposition than a single glass at $11. A whole bottle of champagne is $40, served with a carafe of orange or grapefruit juice.
Second: the patio is explicitly dog friendly — in their words, "plenty of space for both you and your four-legged friends on our dog-friendly patio."
And one practical warning: it closes at 2 p.m. on weekdays. 3 p.m. at weekends. This is breakfast and lunch only, and the lunch window is narrow.

Good to Know
- Bottomless coffee is $4. On a long breakfast that's the best value on the menu.
- The mimosa flight at $15 beats two singles at $11.
- It shuts at two on weekdays. Lunch here means early lunch.
- The patio takes dogs and they say so plainly.
- Everything is made to order, so a full patio on a Sunday means a wait. Factor it in.
- The Haven Pizzeria is the same owners, four doors along, if you want dinner on the same street.
The Takeaway
Sit on the patio with the dog, order a bottomless coffee and the pulled pork hash.
What makes Kensington Café worth the trip isn't that Adams Avenue has a good breakfast — it's that a café with a menu this long still claims to make every dressing in house, and backs it with a kitchen that cooks everything to order. That's more effort than the format demands.
