Run Into Your Mate: San Diego's Run Clubs, One Room, and a Cold Plunge
An open invitation to every run club in San Diego, plus a sculpt class, a sound bath, cold plunges and mini facials. "Come sweat, meet new faces and maybe meet your new mate."
Overview
The name is doing double duty, and the organizers are not being subtle about it: "Come sweat, meet new faces and maybe meet your new mate."
Run Into Your Mate is at Wicked West on Saturday, November 7, from 12 to 4 p.m. It's a collaboration between Wicked West SD and We Run SD, and the premise is an open door: they've invited every run club in San Diego.
Tickets are $35 presale, and the organizers describe that as a limited-time price.
Here's the thing to understand before you go, because it decides whether this is your kind of afternoon.
This is a singles-adjacent social event wearing a wellness event's clothes. Not exclusively — plenty of people will come with friends, and the sculpt class and sound bath are real. But the framing is explicit, the entire premise is mixing run clubs that normally never cross paths, and the organizers named it Run Into Your Mate.
If that's appealing, it's an unusually low-pressure version of it: you're not sitting across a table from a stranger, you're doing a workout alongside a few hundred people and then queueing for a cold plunge. If it isn't, go for the sound bath and the arcade and nobody will bother you.
One practical note that matters here more than at most events: the afternoon runs 12 to 4, and the schedule isn't published beyond the activity list. The sculpt class is 45 minutes and has a guest instructor, which suggests it runs once rather than on a loop — so if the class is the reason you're going, arrive at noon rather than drifting in at two.

Good to Know
- Bring a swimsuit and a towel. There are cold plunges. This is the thing people forget.
- Arrive at noon if you want the sculpt class. It's 45 minutes with a guest instructor and there's no published schedule, so assume it runs once.
- Come alone if that's the point. The whole design is built around meeting people from other run clubs — showing up solo is the intended use, not the awkward one.
- Or bring your club. The invitation is explicitly to every run club in the city, so turning up as a group of eight is equally on-brand.
- Presale pricing is temporary. The organizers say "while presale lasts" — so if you're going, buy early rather than at the door.
- There's a mini facial and an IV drip on the list, which is a slightly different register than a run club social. Budget your four hours accordingly; you can't do everything.
- Barrio Logan is worth arriving early for if you've not spent time there.
Why It's Worth It
San Diego's run-club scene is genuinely large and almost entirely siloed — each group has its route, its day and its regulars, and they rarely overlap. An event that invites all of them into one room is a reasonable idea that nobody had been doing.
Add a sculpt class, a sound bath, two kinds of recovery and a DJ for $35, and it's a cheap Saturday afternoon even if you never speak to a stranger.
If this one appeals, there's a sister event first. The same venue hosts Off Day Social Round 2 on Saturday, October 24, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., also $35 — a bigger lineup with run, lift and mobility tracks, a sauna, two cold plunge setups and a costume competition. Same building, three weeks earlier.
