SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration Starts Friday, and It Snows Every Night
It snows at SkyTower Lawn every night from November 13. Four new shows this year, a 30-foot tree, Rudolph, and fireworks on December 12 and New Year's Eve.
Overview
SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration opens on Friday, November 13, 2026 and runs daily through January 3, 2027.
It is included with park admission — there's no separate event ticket.
SeaWorld calls it "San Diego's Biggest Holiday Event," and on volume of programming that's a fair claim. There are four brand-new shows this year, a returning set of favourites, a 30-foot tree lighting every evening, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with his own area, and snow falling nightly in a city that doesn't get any.
Two dates to put in the diary now:
- Saturday, December 12 — holiday fireworks
- Thursday, December 31 — New Year's Eve fireworks
Both verified against the calendar, and both are the only two dated events in the whole run.
What's New This Year
Four shows are marked as new:
- Dolphin Island Christmas
- North Pole Storytime
- DJ the Elf
- Rock the Holiday Christmas Parade
A new parade is the significant one. A parade changes the shape of an evening — it gives you a fixed thing to position yourself for rather than wandering between shows.
Returning Favourites
- Clyde & Seamore's Christmas Special
- Toymaker Trouble, with Mrs. Claus and the Elves
- A Stocking Full of Soul
- Donner and Blitzen's Lazer Light Show — running nightly at the front of the park
The Nightly Set Pieces
Three things happen every evening, and they're the backbone of the event.
The snowfall. At SkyTower Lawn and Wild Arctic, nightly. In San Diego, snow is a genuine novelty — for a lot of children here it's the only snow they'll see all year, and that lands harder than any show on the list.
The 30-foot tree lighting, in Holiday Plaza, nightly.
Holiday Lights & Magic throughout the park.
Rudolph, Santa and the Rest
- Rudolph's Christmastown — meet Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, with a photo opportunity, in the Holly Jolly Marketplace
- Santa's Cottage — meet Santa
- Santa's Reindeer — on site
- Snowflake Seeker's: A Christmas Quest — a hunt around the park
- A Christmas Wish Fireworks Show
One gap worth knowing before you build a day around it. SeaWorld doesn't publish whether meeting Santa or Rudolph costs extra, needs a reservation, or operates on a queue. For the two things small children will most want to do, that's the question we'd most like answered and can't. Assume a queue and go early.
Eating and Drinking
The Christmas Shoppe, festive entrées and holiday cocktails all run through the event, and pass members get discounts.
No prices are published for any of it.
One published rule: Twinkle Tree Café cocktails are 21+, with physical ID required. That's the only age restriction SeaWorld publishes for the entire event.
Times — and the Problem With Them
Here is the honest position, because you'll want to plan around show times and you can't.
SeaWorld publishes no show times, no parade time and no tree lighting time. The only statement is that "Christmas Celebration takes place during regular park hours."
So check the park schedule on their site for the day you're going, and pick up a times guide at the gate. Park hours change through the season.
Admission and Parking
- The event is included with park admission. No separate ticket
- Ticket prices vary by day — that's SeaWorld's own wording, and no figures are published
- Reserved parking: VIP $77 · Up-Close $55 · General $35
- A standard drive-up parking rate isn't published. Budget at least $35
- Strollers $40, wheelchairs $40, electric scooters $110 — the scooter is 16+ only
Their parking booking calendar was returning errors when we checked, so pre-booking may not work. Plan to pay at the gate if it doesn't.
How to Go
- When: Friday, November 13, 2026 through January 3, 2027, daily
- Fireworks: Saturday, December 12 and Thursday, December 31
- Where: SeaWorld San Diego, Mission Bay
- Admission: included with park admission
- Parking: reserved tiers from $35
Good to Know
- It snows nightly at SkyTower Lawn and Wild Arctic. For most San Diego kids that's the headline.
- The two fireworks nights are December 12 and New Year's Eve.
- No show times are published. Get a times guide at the gate.
- Nothing is published about Santa or Rudolph queues or costs. Go early.
- Four new shows this year, including a new parade.
- The only published age rule is 21+ for cocktails.
- Check the end date before a late-season visit — see the note below.
- December gets busy. A mid-November or early-December weeknight is a far easier visit than the week before Christmas.
A Note on the End Date
We'd normally just tell you when it finishes. In this case we have to show our working.
SeaWorld publishes three different versions of this event's dates:
- Their events calendar says "Daily, November 13 - January 3, 2027." That is internally consistent — November 13, 2026 is a Friday and January 3, 2027 is a Sunday
- Their navigation menu says "Christmas Celebration Daily, November 13 - January 3, 2026" — an end date that falls before the start date, which is impossible
- The dedicated Christmas page itself publishes no dates at all. The entire date line above the ticket button is the single word "Daily"
We've gone with November 13 to January 3, 2027, because it's the only version that works as a calendar range. But if you're planning a visit right at the start of January, confirm with the park first.
Why It's Worth It
Because it's included, and because of the snow.
Most San Diego holiday events are a ticket on top of a ticket. This one is in the price of a normal park day — so if you were going to SeaWorld anyway between mid-November and early January, you get the entire Christmas programme for nothing extra.
And the snowfall is the thing people remember. Four new shows and a parade are good value, Rudolph and Santa will matter if you're bringing small children, and the lazer light show at the front of the park is a reliable finish. But a child standing under falling snow at SkyTower Lawn in a seventy-degree December is the bit that ends up in the photo.
Go on a weeknight in late November if you can. The programming is identical and the park is a different place.
If you want more holiday options: our guides to North Pole by the Sea in Del Mar and the Chula Vista Starlight Parade cover two of the better free and low-cost alternatives.
