LEGOLAND Hands Out 3D Glasses for Its Fourth of July Fireworks
Ten minutes of fireworks at 8:45, watched through 3D glasses, from a park that stays open late for it. Included with admission — and the quiet viewing spot is the entry plaza.
Overview
Red, White & BOOM! is LEGOLAND California's Fourth of July event, and in 2027 it falls on Sunday, July 4.
The fireworks start at 8:45 p.m. and run about ten minutes. The park stays open late for it.
It's included with regular park admission and select annual passes — "guests do not need a separate event ticket to participate in the Fourth of July festivities," in LEGOLAND's own words.
And there's a detail that makes this different from every other fireworks display in the county: they hand out 3D viewing glasses.
LEGOLAND's line is that the glasses "transform the fireworks into a show you will never forget." Whether that's true is a matter of taste, but it's a genuinely novel thing to do with a firework show and it's the reason to pick this one over a beach.
The Day
Four things run alongside the fireworks:
- The Red, White & BOOM! Bash — sing and dance along
- MINILAND USA Scavenger Hunt, with an exclusive pop badge as the prize
- Lawn games hosted by Hot Dog Guy, including a LEGO Hamburger Relay
- DJ dance parties, plus Race Car Guy's Super-Fast Dance Party
The MINILAND scavenger hunt is the smart one. MINILAND USA is the best thing in that park regardless of the date, and a hunt gives children a reason to actually look at it rather than walk past. The exclusive badge is the kind of thing a seven-year-old keeps.
Where to Watch — and the Quiet Option
The fireworks launch from a location in the LEGOLAND parking lot.
Viewing areas with hosted entertainment are MINILAND USA and The Beginning.
And then there's the entry plaza. LEGOLAND's own advice: "For great views and smaller crowds, visit the LEGOLAND Entry Plaza!"
That's the tip worth taking. Smaller crowds on the Fourth of July with children in tow is worth more than hosted entertainment, and it's a shorter walk to the car park afterwards.
(A small inconsistency on their page: the body copy lists the entry plaza as one of the three hosted viewing areas, while the FAQ excludes it from the hosted list and presents it as the quieter alternative. Either way, it's a good place to stand.)
What It Costs
Included with park admission and select annual passes.
- Park tickets from $69 per person — LEGOLAND plus the Water Park and SEA LIFE Aquarium
- Annual passes from $239, or from $19 a month with an initial payment starting at $83, auto-renewing after a twelve-month minimum
- Hotel packages from $169 per person per night on LEGOLAND's hub page, including a stay plus two-day hopper tickets and daily hot breakfast, with kids' tickets from $39 a day
Two warnings on pricing.
LEGOLAND's hub page and its event pages don't match. The event page shows hotel packages at $189 with an offer that expired on September 28, 2026; the hub shows $169 with a live offer. The hub also describes the ticket as LEGOLAND plus SEA LIFE without the Water Park, while the event page includes it. Buy from the hub and confirm what's in your ticket.
And the 3D glasses: LEGOLAND says they're "available while supplies last" but never says whether they're free or sold. The body copy reads as though they're handed out. Don't count on either until you're there, and get them early.

Why It's Worth It
Because the Fourth of July in San Diego is a parking problem, and this one isn't.
Every beach fireworks display in this county involves arriving hours early, finding nowhere to park, sitting on sand in the dark and then queuing to leave. This is a theme park you were already inside, with a car in a car park, a show at a published time, and a ten-minute walk out.
The 3D glasses are the genuine novelty. There is nowhere else in San Diego watching fireworks through them, and for children it reframes something they've seen before into something new.
And it's free with a ticket you may already have. If you hold an annual pass, the Fourth of July is one of the better days to use it — extended hours, a full programme, and a fireworks show you don't have to fight for a spot at.
One planning note: July 4, 2027 falls on a Sunday, so most people get the Monday. That makes this a long-weekend event rather than a school-night one, which changes how busy it'll be — expect a full park.
If you're already planning a Carlsbad day: our guide to the Kids Marathon Mile at LEGOLAND covers a January run through the park before it opens, and LEGO NINJAGO Weekends runs in early 2027.
