Your guide to Carlsbad's free TGIF Concerts in the Parks — all nine 2026 Friday-night shows, by park.
If there's one tradition that sums up a North County summer, it's this one. Every Friday evening, a Carlsbad community park fills with blankets, lawn chairs, coolers, and a few thousand people winding down the week to live music — and it doesn't cost a dime. The TGIF Concerts in the Parks series is one of my favorite free things to do all summer, and the kind of low-key, all-ages evening that makes you grateful to live here. Here's the full 2026 rundown.
Now in its 39th year, TGIF Concerts in the Parks is Carlsbad's longest-running free outdoor concert tradition, drawing over 40,000 attendees a year across three community parks. The 2026 season runs nine concerts spanning country, brass and funk, dance band, yacht rock, Latin and salsa, '90s alt rock, R&B, '80s, and rock and soul — a genuinely eclectic lineup, so there's a night for just about everyone.
The format is simple and it's the whole charm: pick a Friday, pack a picnic, spread out on the grass, and enjoy a full evening of live music as the sun goes down.
A few local tips so your first one goes smoothly:
Confirm exact set times and bike-valet details on the official Carlsbad event page before you head out, as they can shift by park and date.
The season rotates through three parks as summer goes on. Here's every show — tap any concert for its full guide:
Note: There's no concert on Friday, July 3, because of the July 4 holiday weekend.
However you spend your summer Fridays, this is one of the easiest, friendliest, and most affordable ways to do it — and it's a North County tradition worth building a few weekends around.
